Current Community Outreach Projects
Here are the community outreach projects that we are working in 2017. These items go to Morton Plant Mease Countryside Hospital NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit) :
Hearts for Infants – This is a very easy, quick project. These hearts are given to mothers whose newborn infants have been admitted to the NICU. The fabric heart is worn against the mother’s skin so that the fabric might absorb the scent of the mother. The heart is placed with the baby in the isolette so that the mother is always with her child. Click here for instructions on how to make hearts.
Burp Cloths – Drape this cloth over your shoulder while burping baby. Click here for instructions on how to make burp cloths. Use cotton, flannel, fleece or terry cloth.
Baby Quilts – Donate a small quilt (30 to 36 inch square) to be used for baby’s tummy time. There are more boys in the NICU so boy colors would be appreciated. Look through your orphan blocks and add a few borders and it will be up to 30 inches quickly.
Some of the projects we’ve made in the past include:
Crochet Hat: Click here for a pattern to fit a small child up to an adult large.
